About SDI Video SFP Fiber Optical Module

What is SDI VIDEO SFP fiber optical module? What is it for? SDI SFP fiber optical module is also called digital video fiber optical module or SDI (Serial Digital Interface) fiber optical module, and its main function is to support SDI video pathological signal of SDI equipment. The SDI SFP fiber optical module is used to provide video transmission and is used in HD-SDI optical transmitter and receiver. As we all know, video transmission is different from data communication. The fundamental difference is that the video is transmitted in a one-way manner. This means that the video link may only transmit optical or electrical signals. 1. What is a digital video SDI interface

The SDI interface is an acronym for serial digital interface. It is an interface type and a digital video interface standard developed by the SMPTE organization. The SDI interface can be roughly divided into SD-SDI (270Mbp, SMPTE259M), which is standard definition. HD-SDI (1.485Gbps, SMPTE292M), which means high definition. 3G-SDI (2.97Gbps, SMPTE424M), which means super definition supports 1080P And digital cinema and other more advanced image quality of these three. 2.Video SFP fiber optical module classification

According to the rate, it is divided into HD-SDI,3G-SDI, 6G-SDI,12G-SDI; 2.97G is also called 3G, corresponding to the SMPTE-424M standard,supporting FULL HD full HD 1080P. 1.485G is also called 1.5G, which is HD-SDI, Corresponding to the SMPTE-292M standard, supporting 720P. 3G-SDI is an upgraded version of HD-SDI, supporting more advanced image quality such as 1080P and digital cinema.

According to the different working wavelengths, they can be divided into four types, 850nm, 1310nm, 1490nm and 1550nm.

According to the different types of transceivers, SDI SFP fiber optical modules can be divided into five types,single reception, dual reception, single transmission, dual transmission and integrated transceiver.

4.How to buy Video SFP fiber optical module?

When purchasing, be sure to choose products that have passed the SDI sickness code test. Because products that have not passed the SDI pathological code test are likely to have problems when transmitting signals with irregular bit rates, for example, the probability of problems at 1.5G rate is low, and the probability of problems at 3G rate is higher. The main performance is Flicker, black, blue screen appears during HD video transmission, or continuous and smooth playback of the screen cannot be guaranteed.
